@juicememorning :)08:32
valdur55Morning :P08:33
@juicemesup08:33
valdur55Today  I install Nemo on my mobile :)08:33
@juicemegood :)08:34
@juicemethat the first time?08:34
valdur55Yea.08:34
valdur55I have used Android on this phone... Android is not my cup of tea...08:34
@juicemeya, it's somehow not quite what you would expect.08:35
valdur55Is it safe to install nemo like a Nitroid?08:35
valdur55to /nemo/folder08:35
@juicemeno, you have to have it on a dedicated partition08:36
@juicemeword of caution, do not use http://releases.nemomobile.org/releases/0.20130620.0.1/images/nemo-armv7hl-n950/ release :)08:36
@juicemeit's broken...08:36
valdur55I downloaded http://releases.nemomobile.org/snapshots/images/0.20130411.1.NEMO.2013-04-26.1/nemo-armv7hl-n900/nemo-armv7hl-n900-mmcblk0p.raw.bz2 for N908:38
@juicemecould be OK. I used 0.20130218.0.1.NEMO.2013-02-15.1 myself08:39
valdur55SHould i use N900 image on Nokia N908:39
@juicemenope, N950 is the correct image08:40
valdur55Ouch :)08:41
valdur55Yea. I misreaded it: https://wiki.merproject.org/wiki/Nemo/Installing#Nokia_N908:41
@juicemeand when you have the partition set up, the *.tar.bz2 is the only image you need, ubiboot will do the rest.08:41
@juicemeof course first you need to set up the partition (usually p4) in your device using MOSLO08:42
valdur55OK. It means that ...  Harmattan's rootfs will be flashed?08:45
@juicemehmm, no, what do you mean exactly?08:47
@juicemewhen you split the partition, the p4 will be carved out of your p1 (MyDocs)08:48
valdur55Ok. Good.  Then i should cleanup MyDocs part.08:48
valdur55Irw. I made reboot and saw notifycation: There is a problem with your sim08:51
@juicemeyes, that is best. AFAIK the repartitioining script will check the space allocation on MyDocs and refuse to partitonit if there is too much stuff there, but how I didi it myself, is I backed everything up and emptied it just to be sure.08:51
@juicemehave you had that warning before? maybe it's a bad contact?08:52
valdur55Nope.08:52
valdur55Now, it i it booting normaly.08:52
valdur55I booted with USB cable and i removed USB before Ubiboot screen ( nokia logo was still on the screen).08:54
@juicemeyes08:54
valdur55It booted directly to harmattan , and message was before bootvideo.08:54
@juicemethe sim card warning? strange, as I think it only accesses sim after the boot video.08:55
@juicemecould be wrong though.08:55
valdur55Ok. I can't reproduce it again :(08:59
@juicemeone-time glitch. sometimes those just happen...09:00
valdur55Got another funny thing: No mobile network.09:02
valdur55I removed sim durning boot09:03
@juicemeand did you put it back? :)09:03
valdur55yes. After boot ending.09:03
valdur55I use custom boot video, :)09:04
@juicemeand it seemingly registered OK, asked for pin code etc..?09:05
valdur55No pin code :P And this is normal.09:06
@juicemeokay. yes of course, if you use Nitdroid you need to remove the PIN.09:06
valdur55Ok. 5 min till to downlaod :P09:06
valdur55Good: 3,5 GB data in my MyDocs ... I make full backup to DVD :)09:15
valdur55I am lazy :)09:16
@juiceme:)09:16
@juicemehmm, again somebody's been busy... "zypper up" says 276 packages to upgrade, 37 new, 9 to remove.09:23
@juiceme:)09:23
@juicemeNemo's like Ubuntu, so many updated popping up all the time you cannot possibly track them all...09:24
@juicemes/updated/updates09:24
valdur55Oh.. Nemo is better :)09:29
@juicemesure :) but I run Ubuntu on most of my desktops (10.04 or 12.04)09:30
valdur55Same here...  but i use Xubuntu.09:30
valdur55And mint :)09:30
@juicemeand Debian on my servers...09:31
valdur55'09:31
@juicemeMint, well yes I have tried it.09:31
@juicemenot bad, but still somehow I end up installing Ubuntu :)09:31
@juicemebut I use CairoDoc as my desktop env.09:32
valdur55For holding app launcher icons?09:32
valdur55I use Synapse for that.  :)09:33
@juicemeyes, I hide the default Ubuntu launcher which I think is not that pretty09:33
valdur55Even with GNome Shell I used synapse as applications launcher.09:34
@juicemeI'd love to run pure debian on desktop too but it'd get too much of a hazzle, as I'd need to have unstable anyway. Ubuntu handles the dependencies fairly well and has the latest toolchains, for example armel cross compiler which is too old in base debian stable :(09:35
valdur55Damn... I should reconfigure E17 desktop env...09:36
valdur55I liked it very much.09:36
@juicemealso the multiscreen handling works nice, I usually have 2 screens desktop09:36
valdur55But it had bad memory handling...09:37
@juicemeat the workstation I use most, that is. rest are laptops.09:37
@juicemehaven't used that, is it buggy or just memory-hungry?09:37
valdur55Switching betweeen virtual desktops added used memory ...09:37
valdur55Memory bug :)09:38
@juicemethose should be 1st priority bugfixes, always.09:38
valdur55yea. i was too laxy to fix it :P.  I jumped back to working xfce env.09:39
@juiceme:)09:39
@juicemeallright, Nemo updated. time to boot up and see what the good folk have updated :) :)09:40
valdur55:)09:41
@juicemeahh, I got to the same stage as the release version I cautioned you against :(09:43
@juicemeseems there are lot of preliminary changes for the upcoming switch from X to Wayland... and some other things not quite integrated yet.09:44
@juicemeyes, the contacts bug is there... bummer.09:45
@juicemeword of warning... do not update the device yet, Nemo seems to be in a transitional stage.09:46
@juicemeback to Harmattan then.09:48
valdur55juiceme: I tought same :)09:48
valdur55We end up with same stage09:48
@juicemebut the good thing is, I know there will be updates pretty soon :)09:49
@juicemeusually fixes come really fast when something's broken, _unlike_ in Harmattan09:49
valdur55:)09:53
@juicemeI need to run to a meeting... see ya.09:55
valdur55juiceme: bye!09:57
valdur55Good. Booted into moslo :)10:30
valdur55installing rootfs :)10:33
valdur55Lol. I didn't noticed -k flag in flasher command. And that is the reason why I asked about Harmattan rootfs flashing.10:34
valdur55Btw. I used not recommended way . I didn't flash it into device, I just loaded Moslo with flasher :)10:35
valdur55I am too lazy to flash ububoot kernel again.10:36
valdur55Booting :)10:37

thedead1440today is a sad day; I have to for the first time in >18months stop using my N9s :( Both of them have borked USB ports20:51
thedead1440Main N9's usb port is totally screwed so device is useless. While for backup device suddenly it only charges device. No data transfer or anything can be done hence no flashing of phone too...20:51
* thedead1440 goes to sleep while crying softly into his pillow...20:51
valdur55Sad. I have almost same problem.21:17
valdur55USB port is ~broken.21:17
@juicemethedead1440, I'm so sorry :(21:45
@juicemedamn those USB ports, first N900 and now starting to break on N9'es too...21:46
@juicemeI wonder if N9 USB could be solder-hardened too?21:46
valdur55My phone is 1 year + some days old.21:51
@juicemehave you ever dropped it while it's been connected?21:51
valdur55Maybe...21:52
valdur55Main problem is harder USB cable.21:53
valdur55And it's head is magnetic. So..  It pushes plug to magnet.21:54

Jonnisoldering replacement usb port to those main small pads is quite a tricky thing and requires steady hand and microscope22:55
@juicemeso the pads are smaller than on N900?22:56
Jonnibut not all hope is lost, if you look the schematics, there is usb debug pads in the other side of the motherboard that are 2mm a piece, you can solder replacement there if you do some wire trickery.22:56
@juiceme:)22:57
Jonniso you can still make those devices work. I got one N9 that my collegue dropped on floor while usb cable connected, and he was throwing it in carbage bin, and I said that I can take it :). After few tricky hours with soldering iron, I got a free working n9 :)22:59
@juicemeskill makes the difference :)23:00
Jonniand believe me, I23:00
JonniI'm not a skillfull with soldering iron, mostly I can change blown caps since they are so big and easy to replace.23:01
Jonnibut sometimes I get lucky, and my hand gets better over time23:02
@juicemewell, I've changed pfqp's with just iron, solder and sock...23:02
@juicemeits not that bad, you just need a small tip and magnifier :)23:03
Jonnithedead1440: just google search for "Nokia_N9-00_SM_L12_SCH.rar" and look the pad locations :)23:04
Jonnischematics page 11, J3300 (vbus), J3301 (txd), J3302 (rxd) and J3303 (gnd)23:10
Jonnithat reminds me that I should tweak one of my N9's usb port, and nowadays I even have usb microscope so I could take some pics23:45
